Then why does the Watch Tower use quotes from other versions in their printed material? If the NWT is so flimsy that they have to resort to other versions in order to make a point, then how can they contend that is the one and only accurate translation?

Or is using other translations simply a smokescreen to lure unsuspecting people into the organization? Perhaps they are trying to convince potential recruits that they are tolerant of other religions since they use quotes from other bibles.

Or is it for something else entirely? Anyone care to speculate?

Pardon me for playing Devil's Advocate, but is this really the WT's fault? First of all, it's extremely difficult to find a good full time job complete with benefits, even with a college education. Second, if anybody should be blamed, shouldn't the employers be reprimanded for not taking better care of their employees?

While signing up for medical coverage, I read that millions of Americans do not have adequate health care. Since there aren't even millions of JWs on the planet, let alone the U.S., all those uninsured people can't possible be JWs. Therefore, I fail to see how this is a JW caused problem.

I love how the WT defines the "Abaddon" as Jesus Christ. The whole world by definition & translation calls the Abaddon - the Devil - The destroyer - etc. Talk about double talk - double think!

n2deep - I understand your fear of posting here regularly. However, I hope you have the courage to one day stand up for what you believe is right. The JWs always go on spiels about how everyone outside of their organization is not to be trusted, etc., so on and so forth. However, at my current job, I've found a group of people who have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and help me become acclimated to my tasks. The JWs are wrong; there are LOTS of great people outside of their organization.

Anyway, I realize you may have circumstances which prevent you from revealing too much, but I hope you stick around.

ok, so there i am at work today, zooming up and down me ladder as i affix fascia boards, soffiting and guttering to the rear of a customers property.. pretty soon it started to rain.. now, good people, fascia-ing, soffit-ing and gutter-ing are not conducive with wet weather.

for several reasons.. 1. rain makes your power tools unsafe.. 2. the ground on which you work gets muddy.

this mud then gets transposed from your shoes onto the rungs of the ladder.

Regardless of the reason, I'm glad you ultimately decided to play it safe instead of working in hazardous conditions. I'm also glad you robbed the JWs of something else to crow about before, during and after meetings.

I fault JWs for putting themselves in Jesus' place. Jesus at one time reprimands his disciples when they try to prevent little children from flocking to him. He explicitly states that no one is to stop little ones from approaching him. The JWs are clearly guilty of breaking this rule. I'm sorry I don't have the exact scripture, but I don't have access to a Bible right now.
